Wire EDM machines, also known as wire erosion machines, are precision tools used to cut hard materials such as metal, ceramics and plastics. They are a form of die-sinking EDM machines and use a thin, electrically charged wire instead of an electrode to remove material from the workpiece surface. The machine consists of a wire, which is made of a conductive material such as copper or brass, and a workpiece, which is made of a hard material such as steel or aluminum.
